CSS Award Nominations now open – Deadline November 7, 2025

Beginning at our 2026 Scientific Conference in Banff the Canadian Spine Society (CSS) will be presenting annual awards to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to our organization.

The awards are:

1. The McIntosh Research Award. Awarded to a CSS member who makes a substantial contribution in any area of spine-related research from project administration to basic research, clinical investigations or social impact studies.

2. The Barros Advocacy Award. Presented to a CSS member who demonstrates outstanding commitment to a spine-related cause such as an improved healthcare environment, increased healthcare resources, faster access to care or a public awareness campaign.

3. The CSS Service Award. Recognizing a CSS member who makes exemplary contributions to the function and improvement of the Canadian Spine Society.

4. The Lifetime Achievement Award. Given to a Canadian surgeon, either practicing or retired, who has significantly contributed to the advancement of spine care and best exemplified the mission statement of the CSS.

To allow time for adequate discussion all nominations must be emailed before November 7th 2025.

Here is what you need to do:

A. Each nomination requires two sponsors.

B. Select the specific award.

C. Briefly describe the reasons, activities or circumstances prompting your nomination.

D. Email your selection to Carey Meyers at the CSS: registration@spinecanada.ca

Recognition will be possible only if you nominate a deserving member.

Deadline is November 7, 2025
